Sail on a little yacht with a skipper and assistant crew for a sailing trip. Perfect for beginners, this adventure will take you round the bay in front of Pantai Acheh, Pulau Indah (Selangor Coastline).

Images of Squib class boats (orange sails) are shown to represent sports under racing mode in sailing, which is a different sailing discipline. Once you are familiar with basic sailing terms and boat handling, you may progress to sailing a Squib and join the Sunday races under sailing club.

Have you ever wondered how free energy like wind can make a floating sailboat move? This activity can heal your hard day at work.

Twenty years from now, you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Spend a Half-day Sailing at Port Klang

At Pulau Indah, you and friends will set sail with a skipper(captain the layman term) aboard the 25 foot Sailing Yacht – a stable with cabin, steady, and perfect for first-time sailors.

Discover sailing

The activity consists of a three-hour hands-on sail at Port Klang. A light refreshment is provided.  Take this opportunity to be part of the crew on the leisure sailing boat.

Discover sailing just behind busy Westport, where calm waters and the cleaner side of the Straits of Malacca near Pantai Acheh make the perfect setting for your sailing experience.

Port Klang History

Port Klang is home to two sailing clubs. The Royal Selangor Yacht Club (RSYC), established in 1963, is where many of Malaysia’s national sailors first set out on the water. As the country’s pioneering sailing hub, it proudly hosts the world-renowned Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta each November – a passage race from Port Klang to Langkawi that attracts sailors from across the globe.

Pulau Indah Marina

Just across the channel, the newly founded Peninsular Sailing Club at Pulau Indah Marina – now the home of Bedarr Boatique – offers a fresh sailing experience. Once known as Pulau Lumut, this area is blessed with calmer waters and far less sea traffic compared to the busy Port Klang channel. Sailing here takes you through the serene Selat Lumut and between the lush mangroves of Pulau Carey, before opening out to the Straits of Malacca. From the deck, you can spot international vessels anchored at the OPL (Outside Port Limit) and even sail toward the quiet shores near Pantai Acheh.

The Peninsular Sailing Club is designed as a true sailors’ haven – a members’ club built around passion for the sea, community, and discovery.

Also, Peninsular Sailing Club is a new sailing club for dedicated sailors – with a view to developing a type of club which scarcely exists, a members club with a common interest in sailing.

This hands-on session gives you a practical foundation that’s useful if you plan to continue learning sailing.

During the sail, you’ll already be exposed to:

  • Basic sail handling and trimming
  • Steering and boat balance
  • Understanding wind direction, tacking, and gybing
  • Working as part of a sailing crew

This means when you join a formal or upskill sailing course like Intro To Sail, the terms, movements, and teamwork will already feel familiar.

Think of this experience as a practical first step — a confidence-building introduction before committing to a longer sailing course.

  1. Is this a private charter?
No. This is a small-group, hands-on sailing experience, not a private charter.
Each session is limited to a maximum of four guests to keep the experience personal and participative.
  2. Do I need sailing experience?
    No sailing experience is required
. This experience is designed for beginners and curious first-timers who want to understand how real sailing feels on a proper yacht.
  3. Will the sail be cancelled due to weather?
Safety comes first. In the event of unsuitable weather conditions, the session may be rescheduled.
  4. Can couples or friends join together?
Yes. This experience is suitable for couples or friends who wish to share a hands-on activity together on the water. Guests will be informed in advance whenever possible.
  5. If I book for 2 people, will we have the boat to ourselves?
No. A pair booking is still a shared sail. You and another couple may be onboard together.
  6. How do I avoid sharing with others?
To avoid sharing, the whole boat must be booked as a private charter.
  7. Will we still get hands-on experience if it’s shared?
Yes. Guests rotate roles such as steering and sail trim.
Everyone gets a chance to participate.
  8. Do I need to pay immediately if I’m booking solo?
Solo guests are welcome to create an account and reserve a preferred sailing date.
  9. How does solo matching work?

After reserving your date, you’ll be placed in our sailing partner match list.
We’ll notify you once another guest joins the same session before confirming payment.

  10. Why is solo payment not required upfront?
We prioritize a comfortable shared sailing experience.
This approach ensures solo guests are only charged once a session is confirmed.
  11. What if no match is found?

If a match isn’t available, you may:

    • Move to another available date

    • Upgrade to a guaranteed private sail

    • Remain on the waitlist for future sessions

  12. What do we actually do during the sail?

    Under guidance, you’ll learn:

    • Why sailboats move in a zig-zag instead of straight into the wind

    • What tacking and gybing mean and when they’re used

    • How sails are set up before sailing

    • How sails are tidied up after the sail

Think of it as a “learn sailing in a day” experience.

  13. Do you offer sunset or golden hour sailing?
A: We do get enquiries for golden hour and sunset sailing. While it can be beautiful, it also depends a lot on weather luck. Late afternoons during this season may bring rain, low wind, or darker conditions around the port area.

The angle of sunrise and sunset also changes throughout the year. Unlike some previous months, the sunset direction may shift further towards the southwest, which affects the lighting and view from our sailing area.

  14. Why is your usual sailing slot 12PM–3PM?
A: This timing usually gives the most consistent sailing conditions on average. However, if afternoon rain affects the earlier slot, we may sometimes adjust the session to around 4:30PM–7:20PM depending on weather and tide conditions.

  15. Do guests learn about tides and currents?
A: Yes. Depending on conditions, guests may also gain basic awareness of tidal currents, wind direction, boat balance, and how these affect the yacht’s movement during sailing.

Tidal current and boat speed are always relative to each other. Compared to kayaks, our yacht moves faster and is usually sailed with the wind or with the wind coming from behind, depending on the course and conditions.

  16. How far will we sail?
A: The sailing distance and route may vary depending on wind direction, sea conditions, tidal currents, and how many tacks we make during the session.
