About Us

What is Bedar?& Who We Are

What is a Bedar? In Malaysia, we usually say Perahu or Kapal — but there was also the great Perahu Besar. These traditional vessels came in two main forms: the Pinis (french design) and the Bedar, with its smaller version, the Anak Bedar.

The Bedar, unique to the east coast, was once used to trade goods and carry passengers across our seas. The last known Bedar was seen in Banting around 1850 — a timeless reminder of Malaysia’s maritime heritage.

Bedarr Boatique carries this legacy forward — not by rebuilding old boats, but by reviving the spirit of seafaring. Our mission is to share sailing knowledge, nurture recreational sailors, and grow Malaysia’s presence in yacht racing, just as the Bedar once carried Malaysians across the seas.
